January 26 marks the start of the Chinese lunar calendar in 2009. New Year is a special time for Chinese families. Everyone gets together to celebrate, with fun, food and fireworks.
At International China Concern we’ll celebrate too. Many of our children who were abandoned at an older age really miss their families. We seek to give them as much encouragement and love as we can over the holiday. On New Year’s Eve we have dinner together, followed by fireworks. The children really enjoy the loud noise and bright colours!
Some of our babies have gone to spend New Year at home with their caregivers. It’s a lovely opportunity for them to experience family life.
If you’d like to be ‘family’ to an abandoned Chinese child, the process is easy. Simply contact us about our child sponsorship programme.
Zhu ni xin nian kuai le! Happy New Year!
