Look to the One

It would be all too easy to look at what’s happening in the world’s financial markets and lose focus on the One who supplies all our needs. A number of reports from our projects have helped us see the truth of that. Not only does God provide for our physical needs, he provides for us spiritually and emotionally too.

Through our Community Outreach Project (COP), Sam Hills and her team have provided for the needs of several families who are caring for their disabled children. Recently Sam reported on Xie Kai Yi’s family.

This little boy had a complicated birth and was not hitting his developmental milestones. At 7 months old his mother was concerned something was wrong with him. We agreed to enter him into the COP for therapy, setting him a regime which his parents could implement at home.

Xie Kai Yi attained all his therapy goals, and by the time he turned one in June this year he was on track with his development. Despite his steady progress, Xie Kai Yi’s mother continued to be anxious about him and worried that he had an intellectual disability. We had seen no evidence of anything to cause concern in this area but ran an assessment that came back indicating normal development, and so allayed his mother’s fears.

At the end of October, after 7 months of therapy and providing support to his parents, we reassessed Xie Kai Yi and found him to still be on track with his development, so we said ‘good-bye’ to him and his family who are very happy. We have left the door open so that they can contact us if they need help in the future.

Let’s continue to look to the One who provides for us, and who holds the future in His hands.
